How to: Clean Your Oven Glass

No matter how hard you try to keep your oven clean, splatters happen and, over time, your oven glass accumulates food particles, grease, and build up. The good news is, cleaning your oven glass is relatively easy and may even take less time than you might think.
Baking Soda Paste
Many households have switched to all-natural cleaning products to avoid the use of harsh chemicals, the best way to clean your oven glass using natural products is to break out the baking soda.
Start by wiping away any loose debris that may have adhered to your oven glass, then, using a 3-1 mixture of baking soda to warm water, mix until the baking soda dissolves and turns into a loose paste.
Once you’ve formed the paste, evenly spread it over the entire area of the oven glass and let it sit for approximately 20 minutes. Using a sponge, begin to scrub the glass to remove the paste, then, using a clean cloth, rinse the surface with warm water.
If there are any stubborn spots, spray them with diluted white vinegar and gently scrub until clean. Once the glass is completely clean, dry with a clean dishtowel.
Ammonia
Note: When cleaning with ammonia, it’s best to wear a pair of gloves to protect your skin and in a well-ventilated part of your home to avoid any health concerns.
Start by laying a few paper towels across the oven glass, then squirt ammonia onto the paper towels until they are soaked completely. Let it sit for an hour, then remove the paper towels.
If there are stubborn spots, they should wipe clean with a bit of elbow grease, or a steel or copper scrubber. Once the glass is cleaned, rinse using a clean, damp cloth.

Cleaning in between the Glass Panes
It may seem crazy, but, over time, some ovens can accumulate grime in between the glass panes, making it difficult to clean.
If your oven has a drawer at the bottom there may be an opening somewhere along the edge that you can use a wooden skewer with a damp washcloth attached to clean in between.
You can also remove the glass, however, you do run the risk of breaking the glass altogether. If your oven didn’t come with the tool to remove the screws you can find one at your local hardware store.
If you do choose to remove the oven glass, it can be cleaned using a mixture of dish soap and water, or simply by creating the above-mentioned baking soda paste and letting it sit for 20 minutes before wiping clean.
Removing Heavy Staining
To remove stubborn stains, start by turning your oven on low heat between 100–125 degrees F. Once the oven has reached temperature, turn it off and open the door for 1 minute allowing it to cool slightly.
It is recommended not to turn the oven on higher than 125 degrees F to avoid burning yourself. Warming your oven in this manner allows stubborn food particles to soften slightly, making it easier to scrub clean.
Continue by spraying the warm oven glass with an oven-safe cleaner such as Easy-off Oven cleaner, then close the oven door and wait 5 minutes.
After the allotted time has passed, proceed by scrubbing the oven glass with a kitchen scrubber or a damp sponge. When finished, rinse the area with a clean, damp sponge.
